Migrant Head Start Transportation Services

TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is provided at most of the centers. Please contact the center for additional information.

If you bring your child to the center, you will also need to take him or her to the classroom each day. This way you can talk to your child’s teacher and exchange any information about your child. Please do not leave your child at the center beyond its hours of operation. If you arrive too early, staff might not be ready and you will have to wait. Should you leave your child at the center after it closes, we will make every effort to call you or the emergency contact. If we cannot get a hold of you, we will turn your child over either to local Law Enforcement, Child Protection or Social Services.

The Migrant & Seasonal Head Start Program and Migrant and Seasonal Early Head Start Program are responsible for your child’s safety and supervision in the classroom and on the school bus. We encourage you to abide by state laws and have your child in safety restraints when they ride with you. Please contact staff if you have questions about safety equipment for your car.

Bus Safety: There is at least one bus child passenger safety monitor on each bus ride to care for the children and to help them have a safe trip to and from the center. The following information applies to our transportation guidelines:

All passengers must remain seated while the bus is in motion.
All Head Start children must use safety restraints when the bus is in motion.
Older children may not take younger children out of their safety restraints at any time.
Do not bring food or toys on the bus. (This includes bottles with formula or juice. We do provide bottles of water for infants and drinking water for others).
Children can only be released to those authorized by the parents in accordance with the Release of Child Procedures. Head Start children will not be released to anyone under the age of 12.
The bus driver/bus child passenger safety monitor must see the physical presence of an authorized person when a child boards the bus. The bus child passenger safety monitor will not go to the door to get the child.
Fixed bus routes may not be altered unless approved by the Center Manager.
If a child misses the bus, it is the parent/guardian responsibility to bring the child to the Head Start center.
The bus driver/bus child passenger safety monitor must see the physical presence of an authorized person when a child is dropped off.
When an authorized person is not at the designated site, staff will attempt to contact parent and/or authorized person. If contact cannot be made, child will be taken to local law enforcement agency and protective services will be notified.

Si usted lleva a su niño al centro, usted deberá llevarlo a su salón escolar todos los días. De esta manera usted podrá conversar con la maestra y podrá intercambiar información acerca de su hijo. Favor de no dejar a su niño en el centro luego de las horas de operación. Si usted llega temprano, el personal no estará listo y usted tendrá que esperar. Si usted deja a su niño en el centro luego de las horas de operación, haremos todo lo posible para comunicarnos con usted o con el contacto de emergencia. Si no podemos comunicarnos con usted, enviaremos a su niño a la Policía Local, Protección de Niños o a Servicios Sociales.

El Programa Migrante de Head Start y Head Start Temprano para Migrantes y de la Temporada son responsables por la seguridad, supervisión en el salón escolar y en el autobús. Le animamos a que siga las leyes del estado y mantenga a su niño en asientos de seguridad cuando ellos viajan con usted. Favor comunicarse con personal si tiene preguntas sobre el equipo de seguridad para su automóvil.

Seguridad en el Autobús: Por lo menos hay un monitor de seguridad de niños pasajeros para el cuidado de los niños y para ayudarles a tener un viaje seguro al y del centro. La siguiente información aplica a nuestras reglas de transportación:

Todos los pasajeros deberán estar sentados mientras el autobús está en moción.
Todos los niños de Head Start usarán los asientos de seguridad cuando el autobús está en moción.
Niños mayores no deberán sacar a los niños pequeños de sus asientos en ningún momento.
No traiga alimentos de comida o juguetes en el autobús. (Esto incluye biberones de formula o jugo. Nosotros proveemos agua en biberones para los bebes y agua para los demás).
Los niños solamente estarán entregados a personas autorizadas por los padres siguiendo la Procedimiento de Entregue del Niño. Los niños de Head Start no serán entregados a personas menores de doce años.
El conductor/monitor de seguridad de niños pasajeros necesita ver la presencia de una persona autorizada cuando el niño sube el autobús. El monitor de seguridad de niños pasajeros no irá a la puerta de la casa para el niño.
La ruta del autobús no puede cambiar sin la aprobación del Gerente de Centro
Si el niño no llega al autobús al tiempo, es la responsabilidad del padre/ guardián de traer el niño al centro de Head Start.
El conductor del autobús/el monitor de la seguridad de niños pasajeros necesita ver la presencia de una persona autorizada cuando deja el niño en casa.
Cuando no hay una persona autorizada en el lugar el personal intentará de encontrar los padres y/o una persona autorizada de recibir el niño. Si no pueden encontrar alguien, se llevará el niño al policía y hará un reporte a la agencia de protección de niños.
