Eligibility & Family Services
Registration:
All families are welcome to apply for services. There are a few steps you will need to take to register for the Head Start program. These are necessary to ensure that your family receives the best possible service. There are a number of forms for you to fill out that will include questions about your family’s income. A Recruiter & Family Advocate or other staff member will help you work on these forms.
Race, color, religion, or nationality does not matter. There is no charge for services. These programs are to help you with the safety, health, education, and development of your child. Any time you have a question, please ask a Head Start staff member.
Selection / Eligibility:
Priority for actual selection will be based on the selection criteria. Points for each criterion will be assigned to each child. The child’s total points will determine his/her ranking in the total group of children eligible for that specific age/developmental level. All eligible children will be considered, and they will be ranked prior to their actual selection and enrollment.
FAMILY GOAL SETTING
Recruiter & Family Advocates meet with families shortly after their child(ren) are enrolled. The Recruiter & Family Advocates set goals with the families and Recruiter & Family Advocates and parents work together to list the steps needed to accomplish these goals. The Recruiter & Family Advocate checks back throughout the year to see where the family is at in accomplishing their goals and gives them resources to help them achieve their goals.
